Student Employee Recognition

  • Student Employee of the Month

    The Student Employee of the Month program is designed to recognize students who exceed expectations in their roles. Exceptional efforts may be demonstrated through various contributions, including effective communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and leadership. This program honors student employees who show outstanding dedication and make a meaningful impact within their workplace each month.

    Alabama A&M University departments, colleges or offices, and local area businesses can nominate students. The nominator must directly supervise the student employee. Students selected can only win student employee of the month once in an academic calendar year. 

    Nominations may be submitted to recognize a student in the following categories:

    • Undergraduate Student Employee of the Month
    • Graduate Student Employee of the Month

    Nominated students must:

    • Be in an undergraduate program or graduate student with a minimum of 6 credit hours
    • Be a current student in good academic standing with the university
    • Be employed on campus and/or be employed with an official AAMU off-site campus partner
    • Be working in an hourly position

    Supervisors will nominate students via Google Form submission 1 week prior to the new month.

  • Student Employee of the Year

    The Student Employee of the Year award recognizes the outstanding contributions and achievements of students who work while pursuing their college education. Student employees play an essential role in Alabama A&M University's campus community, providing invaluable services with dedication and professionalism while managing their academic responsibilities. Their efforts significantly enhance the university in numerous ways—whether by welcoming guests and visitors, assisting fellow students, or supporting the daily operations of various departments. This award honors their commitment and their positive impact on the institution.

    Alabama A&M University departments, colleges or offices, and local area businesses can nominate students. The nominator must directly supervise the student employee.

    Nominations may be submitted to recognize a student in the following categories:

    • Undergraduate Student Employee of the Year
    • Graduate Student Employee of the Year

    Nominated students must:

    • Be in an undergraduate program or graduate student with a minimum of 6 credit hours
    • Be a current student in good academic standing with the university
    • Be employed on campus and/or be employed with an official AAMU off-site campus partner
    • Be working in an hourly position

    Letter of Nomination

    Supervisors will nominate students by submitting a letter (2-page maximum) with the following requirements:

    • Briefly describe why you are submitting this student for recognition.
    • Briefly outline your student employee’s accomplishments this past year and/or how they have contributed to the workplace.
    • How does the student exhibit in their position? Please provide specific examples.
    • Briefly outline how your student employee shows initiative to acquire and apply new skills to further their learning while contributing to the department's operation.
    • Briefly outline how your student employee has gone above and beyond in their position which led to a lasting impact at the university or in the community.
